SIGNATURE SATURDAY GROUPSWith spring riding season around the corner, it’s time for a refresher about the speeds, distances and expectations associated with each of our Signature Saturday groups. Safety remains our primary focus. Please select your group wisely, so you’re not endangering anyone by riding above or below your ability. Our groups: B-Nice 18-20 mph: Led by Laurie Cyclist and Michael Mercilliott, this group rides 34 miles. Although this is a no-drop ride, cyclists should be able to maintain an 18-mph effort in a large pace line. B 19-20: Led by Artie Morgan, this group is perfect for those moving up from B-Nice or those rehabbing an injury. Typically a smaller group, riders in this crew often have multiple opportunities to pull on a 44-mile route, with an option to ride a longer 58-mile course. B 21-22: For experienced cyclists, this B+ group, led by Bill McCallister and Evan Paulter, rides 44 or 58 miles, often in a double pace line. Team members should be able to pull at 21 mph and close gaps that occur during stops and turns. A 23-24: This is an advanced A-level group, led by Lee Lerner and Norman Kaichi Lei. These cyclists roll as a team, with the goal of a steady, fast ride of either 44 or 58 miles. Team members must be strong enough to pull at 23-24 mph and close gaps at 25+. A 25+ (Emphasis on PLUS!): An advanced A-level ride led by Chris Mason and Luke Martin, this is the fastest in our peloton. Speed on the first half of this 44-mile course is uncapped. There will be attacks and riders will be dropped. Riders must be able to pull at 25 mph or higher. ALL GROUPS: Riders must wear helmets and have a mechanically sound bike, with a working rear light. |
